well, im afraid to say i havnt been as active as i would like to be on this site, but i feel the community here is much better than that on p-fury. so ill be here much more frequently!
anyway, pics, i started off with 3 valls, 2 types. these spread really fast and i now have most of the back covered with the clippings. also, people who have problems with hair algae, i found that these fast growing stem plants use lots of phosphate so i bareley have any algae at all. the plants on the foreground are micro swords, i started with 4-5 of these and they quickley spread shoots too! i wanted to have alot of open space as my tank is small as my fish get bigger, but when i get my rio 300 i might put a bit more in there.on the left is a piece of bogwood which i have java fern windelov, java moss, and african ferns are attached. they grow quickley and i like how easy they are to cultivate and plant elsewhere, if anyone wants some african fern, pm me cus i throw out lots every week!

you can almost see some micro swords lol, but they get about 2 inches tall and can produce a carpet like effect once they have taken hold.

you get the idea of the open space i tried to keep.

this is the best shot i could get of a micro sword, you can see the shoots and runners, i need to clip these soon.

african ferns, alot darker than java ferns and i quite like how the leaves curl up over night and then open,
i did have problems with some algae on the leaves but i bought some shrimp which are surprisingly still alive! and they took care of it.

you get the idea of the bogwood lol.

Thats really nice. I want to make the community tank a planted one. Had good results with Amazon Swords but not with Java Fern. The leaves went all black on me and didn't look nice at all. May treat myself to a selection from Java Plants and see how I do with them.
Do you feed the plants at all or use different tubes?

thanks for all the feedback guys, it means alot!.
you mean light tubes?
i just have one tropical sun bulb, relativeley low light but the plants i have prefer that. i feed them once a week with flora excell, i dont does nitrates or co2 but the plants i have dont require it. as for your ferns, make sure you attatch them to a rock or piece of bogwood, you can plant them in the gravel so long as you dont cover the rhizome (big green root) that seems to be the biggest mistake people make.
cheers again thanks.gif
