You wont regret trying marine, its absolutely brilliant,
What puffer you can get depends on the size tank you get. Dog face puffers are really nice imo but they get quite big. The valentini is stunning and that doesnt get very big at all. I was looking into puffers but theres draw backs that affected my choice. After looking at afew different foruns the general word is that you can not keep them with any inverts at all. So it would have to be a FO or a FOWLR, and no crabs, shrimps or snails, unless you are willing to replace them all the time. They can be pretty agresive aswell, so cant be kept with certain fish. They are however very appealing to the eye and very sociable fish.
In a big tank id go for a dog face, in a small tank it would be a valentini.

Yellow dogface puffers and porcupine puffers are my favourites.

thanks lads, all the fish you have mentioned look really good, but as im looking to do a really small tank i think the valentini is looking like a good option, the tank will be 18w*24l*12h..
