Right uhhmm at this rate I will have posted in every section before I get a fish rolleyes.gif

Anyway, I should have a tank waiting to be picked up from my LFS in the next couple of weeks. My question is what size tank would you need for a fuzzy dwarf/ fu manchu lion fish? The tank would have an external filter and skimmer and there would be nothing else in the tank apart from rock.

google's your friend ... http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-11/fm/feature/

I saw that but wanted some more advice. Looks like another FAIL for me sad.gif

Let me put it this way - 16 gallon with external filter, any type meaning marine, tropical, etc what fish would you you get? Bearing in mind I like them on the active/interesting side wacko.gif
Alex
its a fair question mate, and looking at a few other sites they all say pretty much the same tank size, so there was no fail mate biggrin.gif

16 gallons you say!!!!... thats a very small tank mate, so the only thing id suggest would be some sort of tetra or maybe some dwarf cory cats
depends what you like.... but tbh you dont have that many options with a tank that size

marine wise ive got no idea.... maybe some snails and a hermit crab laugh.gif

Limited size because of 'planning permission' and my dad's reef tank lmao.gif

Funny thing is my LFS (who has also been a good friend of my dad for many years) says a dwarf lion should be OK with a good external, skimmer and water changes. He will also take it back if I have any problems but I myself don't want to 'ruin' the fish.

PS While we are here, this is my dad's 150g reef:

good luck with your 'fuzzy' mate... and your dad has a lovely tank there mate, sure he'll be able to give you every bit of knowledge you'll need, if he's been running that tank for a while buttrock.gif ... drool.gif ... it just makes me want one smack.gif
timhall
drool.gif fair few quid in that tank eh! Rich.

Looks fantastic and i,m going the same way in January myself, going back to marine buttrock.gif

Thanks for the comments guys! good.gif

Well I'm not sure what I'm doing at the moment. Tropical, Marine, Tropical, Marine... wacko.gif

Have a tropical for a year and then try your hand at a marine tank. I've been toying with the idea of a small marine setup for a while but I think if you're not sure then stick to the tropicals, as the marines will be a costly experiment- albeit you have your dads expertise to fall back on. Just a thought............. good.gif

That's what I'll probably end up doing, some small catfish or something. Plus there isn't much point having another marine set up in the house rolleyes.gif

Sorry this is now becoming the wrong section but what are the differences between a red tail shark and a rainbow shark? apart from the obvious visual difference rolleyes.gif

Yes it is laugh.gif and for the record why is saltwater more difficult that fresh? Because it has salt in it??
rac3r
I don't think it is any harder unsure.gif You might need a skimmer and some more stuff, it's a little more expensive and it gets a bit more complicated when you add corals but that's it I think lmao.gif
