hello everyone, my name is prashant, i usually dont introduce myself but i thought i would considering i dont keep piranhas.
Im looking to get acestrorhynchus so i joined this forum. Also ive seen a lot of helpful info on this forum on other fish in the past.
I used to live in singapore which is where i am now on holiday but i live in the uk, and have been keeping fish for about 6 years, including marine fish, of which im starting a new tank in uk.
Currently im keeping 2 tanks, one juwel rio 180 and one 6x2x2,the rio 180 is a planted but it has a green terror in it in addition to 2 jewel cichlids, im moving the GT into the 6x2x2as its 7in.there is also a decorusxmulti syno. Some ancistrus and pictus cats were in this tank, but they unfortunately died from a co2 problem.
The 6x2x2 used to have an oscar which i decided to rehome and a jardini aro which i grew on and sold. I kept a blue phantom plec which died one day from a disease which i believe was from the live bloodworm he ate much of, none of the other fish showed stress.
I then kept geophagus, a goldie plec and a bolt catfish. All were very happy until i went on holiday and even with precise instructions given the fish died except 2 geos(6in altifrons and a heckelli(i know thats not a geo but its easy to jjust group them like thst)
The water is always clear, most of the fish lived for years with not a single problem, im not one of those people who just keeps letting his fish die and buying new ones. The fish are not overstocked and the water is clean always with nitrates below 20ppm.these are not all the fish i have kept but admittedly in singapore i did overstock in some tanks with large catfish and datnoids.I did keep discus and marine tanks v. successfully, until i bought a koran angel from a different store that uses medicated water, it started ich, and whatever fiash i got from that store and kept on its own just started ich and died , the people warned that i had to not use the medicated water in the transportation bag with my fish, but they did not mention how their fish can survive in water without their medications.
Hope ive given a good impression!
