Yep but obviously eventually you'll need a big tank, Dave used to have one I think.

There are 2 types, one gets humungus and the other not so big.

Yeah Im pretty sure he had the smaller species lol, pretty sure he had it up for sale at one point, think it was about 6" or 8", cant remember.

Vittatus and goliath... Dave had my goliath off me ... personally I prefer the vittatus

i fcukin hate the jumpy little bastards... they spend more time on the floor than in the tank

My old boy was good as gold and stayed in his tank. ( Vittatus)
Sold him when he got to 11.5ins to Dave,

Are they really that bad??..i never heard of them until i came a member on here..i bet plenty of people have simular experiences

Mate, give them enough space to get some speed up and they`ll hit the glass at a suicidal speed if they spook. they are open water speed merchants . A mate had 4 in a 6ft and all ended up with smashed faces. Mine eventually went in a 8ft tank on its own the last i heard.
It grew from a few inches to 11.5ins in about 10 months in a 30 gal, where it didnt have room to really swim, but it had a good powerhead to make him swim against. They are a bit twitchy and always want to be moving.

Edit, my mate said the only way he could really see to to keep them would be in a curved sided tank, so if they hit the end they`d just carry on going round n round

pain in the arse mate, one of the vitts we had was rarely in the tank, spent most of its time on the floor

really stunning fish, and awesome predators but they dont really thrive in an aquarium
like chris said most of them end up with smashed up faces by the time they get any decent size to them

watched a programme once where a guy was in Africa fishing for them ... unbelievable power!!
... no wonder they can smash themselves up in a tank

great fish Chris, look at the caudal fin... you can see where they come from

We had to one at 6" and 1 at 9-10" in a 6 footer, they were amazin feeders amazingly quick, we had 3 big fook off powerheads in with them they loved it... there was a clock above which was chrome I was them feeding them one day and the big one jumped out and hit the clock

I just remembered that tank i had it in, it was in my old shed at work, there were mice living under it tunneling in the ffing polystyrene, i had traps set up round it.

Uh , i just looked on my youtube account and it seems that this vid has been blocked in some countries and ive got a message saying theres an infringement of copyright, i can only assume its about the Keane song which just happened to be on the radio when i recorded the vid, i dont even like them.

I had to remove one of my vids from Youtube as it contained Jay Z and Linkin Park and was an infringement of copyright. Thought as I bought the CD, I was ok to do it but apparently not.
