Depends on the actual dimensions of the tank but should be fine. They will appreciate heavy planting.

Id say no. Channa Aurantimaculata are capable of reaching 16'' so a 48'' tank is too small IMO. A tank atleast 5ft long would be needed and it would have to be quite wide aswell.

:I-Agree: you need at least a 5 x 2 x 2the length and width is to accomodate their size, the height is to allow for breathing room at the top, as all snakeheads are air breathers, and need access or else they can suffocate.

not really, most of the 'aggresive' species are medium to large snakeheads, all of which are unsuited to a 50 gal tank. YOu could try some of the smaller species such as Orientalis, punctata, blehri, bankanensis (rare) even Lucia, but in all honestly, if your after aggresion, these will probably be a disappointment to youas they are not exactly 'aggresive'

The only way to get channa to show off their full colours is to keep them happy.

Well planted tank, with lots of hiding spots.
Balanced, mixed diet of fish, prawn, pellet, earthworm and insects.
And being kept in the correct temperatures helps
