Has Anyone Ever Used Cerium Oxide?

Having a look around 'Cerium Oxide' would appear to be the popular choice to remove light scratches used with a polishing pad and drill.
Just wondering, has anyone here ever tried cerium oxide? Is it effective or would I just be pissing into the wind?

I once was asked to try and remove a very light 3" scratch from the front outside of an aquarium. I purchased a kit for the purpose and spent 3 hours with a drill but had no effect, we ended up pulling the tank out, which was built into a wall, turning it round and removing the painted backing. A month later the guys wife was using the magnet cleaning and scratched right along the bottom, he was not pleased. I might add that the guy suffered with one of those conditions that made him want everything in the right place and clean and tidy, compulsive something or other. Personally light scratching doesn't bother me, they only show up when the glass gets dirty, if you do go for it let us know how you get on.

I'm in two minds whether to go ahead with it to be honest mate. I've seen the videos on You Tube (which are always going to look as though it works) and had a read through a few other forums with mixed reviews. Some guy was at it for 3 hours with very little effect. I was just wondering if anyone on here had first hand experience.
It's not badly scratched, it's just that I'm over fussy. Couldn't pass on it though. I had the tank, the stand, a Fluval 406, a ton of water treatments and various other extras for £240.

I think every tank I have has at least 1 scratch, a 6 footer right at my shoulder here in my office has loads of scratches, but it is over 25 years old, I think it's just a matter of what you will accept. You had a result buying that tank £240 is well cheap.

Yeah, absolutely mate. £240 was far too good a deal to pass up on for what I got.
Do you have Piranha in that tank at work? I'd love to see a pic of that tank if poss?

That's my granddaughters influence coming through Vinny,
The tank is in my home office/den, it just has guppies, shrimp and bristlenose plecs in it. My piranha tank is right opposite but a bit higher up.
